A home I am currently fixing up has damaged brick stairs at the side door. The slab on the top is fine but the bricks themselves that hold the slab are not in a good way. I was considering replacing this with a wood deck style entrance as I can make it bigger and it would be more cost-efficient. My other option would be to remove the slab and redo the bricks. What would be better?

Brick is not cheap these days and while it looks more professional and tends to last longer when done right, not everyone likes them. I would say a nice wood deck with a tight-sealing would look fabulous on the side of a home.
